Shilpa Gupta - There is No Border Here, 2005-6
"This work by Gupta takes the form of a flag made from yellow adhesive tape applied directly to the walls of the gallery. The flag, typically an emblem of nation hood, is used here in an associative way considering the construction of notional borders - a recurring theme in Gupta’s practice - that could be based around such factors as nationality, religion and ideology. Printed on the tape is the line THERE IS NO BORDER HERE repeated along its length. The flag also incorporates a short piece of prose that reflects on the construction of physical and psychological divisions between people."
